Supreme Court Justice Tom Chambers Notes the Difficulty Low-income Individuals Face with Fee Waiver Requests

In December, Supreme Court Justice Tom Chambers went incognito to the King County Courthouse and shadowed a woman while she attempted to get court fees waived for her divorce, he then posted his observations on his blog.  In the post Justice Chambers notes that:

“No one questioned that Tende is indigent and entitled to have all fees waived but because she is unrepresented by counsel she must appear personally and stand in many lines.”

The post is very interesting and portrays the frustrations that some of our pro bono clients face when going through the same process. You can read the full account on Supreme Court Justice Tom Chambers Blog.
