Sometimes clients come to our clinics in need of pro se assistance. Presenting your case in court can be a scary thing for many people. There are a lot of unknowns for people who do not visit the courthouse frequently.
Questions like “where do I file?” and “How many copies do I need to make?” are answered in this new King County Superior Court video entitled Your Day in Court. The video also has a complimentary handbook to help people navigate the courthouse.
The video features Judge Yu and Judge Gonzalez who explain step by step the Pro Se experience in the courtroom. Topics covered include where the court houses are located, how to address a judge, filing fees, and forms.
Along with the video people can download a handbook called Preparing For Your Day in Court A Handbook to Self-Representation in the King County Superior Courts.
Personally, if I had to go to court without an attorney I think the handbook and the video would help ease some of my fears. These are great resources be sure to watch the video and keep the link available for clients.
